Acrobatic Arts

Parkour and Free Running Parkour and Free Running are dynamic, movement-based disciplines that involve navigating through urban or natural environments with speed, efficiency, and creativity. While they share similarities, they have distinct philosophies and styles: Acrobatic Gymnastics Acrobatic gymnastics, also known as sports acrobatics, is a competitive discipline that combines elements of gymnastics, dance, and acrobatics. It involves partnerships of two, three, or four athletes performing routines that include balance, tempo, and combined exercises. These routines are characterized by their choreography, synchronization, and the execution of complex acrobatic elements such as throws, catches, and human pyramids. Cheerleading Cheerleading is a dynamic and multifaceted activity that combines elements of dance, gymnastics, stunts, and teamwork. It originated in the late 19th century in the United States as a way to support athletic teams and has since evolved into a competitive sport in its own right. Cheerleading can be broadly categorized into two main types: Aerial Arts Aerial arts, also known as aerial acrobatics or aerial gymnastics, is a performance art and sport that involves performing acrobatic maneuvers while suspended in the air using apparatuses such as silks, hoops (lyra), trapeze, ropes, and straps. It combines elements of dance, gymnastics, and circus arts, requiring strength, flexibility, coordination, and artistic expression. Tumbling Tumbling is a high-energy gymnastics discipline focused on acrobatic flips, twists, and somersaults performed on a spring runway (or floor). Unlike artistic gymnastics, tumbling emphasizes power, speed, and aerial precision in a continuous pass of connected skills. Dance Acrobatics Pole Sports Capoeira Circus Arts The circus arts are a diverse collection of performance disciplines that blend athleticism, artistry, and spectacle. Rooted in ancient traditions but constantly evolving, they include aerial acrobatics, juggling, clowning, balance acts, and more. Modern circus (often called cirque nouveau) emphasizes storytelling and theatricality, while traditional circus focuses on daring feats and skill displays. Tricking Competitive tricking is a dynamic, aesthetic movement discipline that blends martial arts, gymnastics, and breakdancing to create visually spectacular combinations of kicks, flips, twists, and dance-inspired moves. Unlike traditional martial arts, tricking is not combat-focused but emphasizes creativity, athleticism, and self-expression through “tricks” like the 540 kick, corkscrew, butterfly twist, or double leg. It lacks formal rules or a global governing body, with competitions judged subjectively on style, difficulty, flow, and execution. Tricking emerged in the late 1990s and early 2000s as an internet phenomenon, fueled by online communities and platforms like YouTube, evolving from Xtreme Martial Arts (XMA) and taekwondo’s flashy techniques post-1960s.
